Tobias, the Quig and
the Rumplenut Tree was a story I had written for my nephew, Tobias.
It was something for my sister to read aloud to him. Billy Kelly, a designer
and a friend of mine
who knew my songs took a job at Winslow Press (a new childrens publishing
house)
and he asked me if I had any childrens songs or stories. They were looking
for new titles.
I submitted that story
(with no artwork) and they opted to do it a year later.
Since I had done some small illustration jobs for Billy in the interim, they
also signed me on to
do the illustrations. Billy art-directed and the rest is high quality, under-promoted
publishing history.
We are still hoping to produce a follow-up book but have not yet agreed on a
story. I've written a few.

reviews of Tobias.
